Principals

Michael Curry started his career on Wall Street with Merrill Lynch going through their extensive training program. He was Barclays Merchant Bank’s head of west coast operations where he worked with Fortune 1000 companies engaged in cross border acquisitions and providing financing through the Euro markets via either equity offerings or bond placements. Due to his volume of business he became one of the first United States citizens to work with the Merchant Bank in London. After forming a corporate finance team at RH Moulton the largest regional bond house in Los Angeles, Mr. Curry formed his own merchant banking group in 1987 which specialized in buying and turning around small companies as well as financing and growing larger companies. Mr. Curry was engaged by the Getty family to raise capital and turn around their hotel company. He was responsible for acquisition and development of 10 major flag hotel properties, successfully turning around the company and making it available for resale. Aggregate placements have been in excess of $4.0 Billion for equity and debt capital for a variety of projects and companies. Mr. Curry is known for readily accessing equity capital to fund commercial real estate acquisition and development opportunities. He is a graduate of USC with a Master’s Degree, and is a published writer of short stories.

Kenneth Margala is a native of Southern California and attended Stanford University on an Academic/Athletic Scholarship, graduating in 1972 with a BA in Economics and was a participant on the 1971 and 1972 Rose Bowl Stanford football teams.  Subsequently, he has worked as a Senior Tax Consultant for a Big 8 CPA firm, has been CFO for several major real estate companies, and a real estate developer. For the past 12 years, Mr. Margala has worked in the Corporate Real Estate departments of several Wall Street Investment Banks including Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, and most recently UBS Investment Bank. During that period Mr. Margala has been personally responsible for the origination, underwriting, and disposition through securitization, sale, or refinance of over $8 billion in equity, mezzanine, bridge, and permanent financings.  Product types included office, residential apartment/condominium, hotel, medical office, bio medical research, retail and regional shopping malls.  Mr. Margala also developed, on behalf of his employers, an interactive underwriting model which combines the financial underwriting, committee, rating agency, and securitization presentations. This underwriting model/template is currently used in updated formats by several of the investment banks on Wall Street.

Jim Curry has a broad range of experience in corporate finance (including commercial lending and M&A), business development, leadership, and operating companies. His most current position was as a SVP/Team Leader for a regional commercial bank. In this capacity he managed a team of commercial lenders as well as actively pursued and closed commercial lending opportunities. Prior experience includes five years working for a publicly traded non-bank finance company where he held the position of SVP/ National Sales Manager. Mr. Curry also has bought and sold companies for his own account, and ran a very successful start up which traded over $1 billion in commercial mortgages on the secondary market in four years. Mr. Curry holds an MBA in Management and a B.S. in Finance. He also has done extensive youth coaching and was Commissioner of a youth football program.

Kelsey Curry graduated from Santa Clara University in 2009 with a BS degree in Finance from the Leavey School of Business. Since graduating she has worked for the Wall Street firm, Fisher Investments, in wealth management in both the Private Client and Institutional Groups in a succession of promotions. Kelsey has been a top producer at every position with dedication and a lot of hard work. In her free time she loves yoga, sports and is an accomplished baker.
